Guided Meditation with Swami Nikhilanand Ji: Hamen to Ek Shyam Son Kam

Swami Nikhilanand Ji _ 05.29.2021

How to watch on TV

I'm going to lead you in a brief guided meditation to get us in the feeling of ‘ananyata’ and then we'll chant this song from Prem Ras Madira. I'm going to lead you in a meditation to focus your mind on the feelings of ananyata, exclusive devotion to Shri Krishna with closed eyes.

With closed eyes, let's take a couple of nice, easy breaths. Fill your lungs up and let it go. Bring your attention into your heart, your heart area, the center of your chest, what we call the spiritual heart. That is the seat of the soul. Your true self resides there, inside your body. You are not this physical body. You are actually a Divine being, an eternal Divine soul, the atma, who resides temporarily inside this physical body.

This body is our abode. This is where we live. It's like our house or our vehicle. But we are not the body. The body was given to us at the beginning of this life. And eventually we'll have to leave this body. But we do not cease to exist. We have lived unlimited lifetimes. And in every life we received a new body, sometimes as a human, sometimes as an animal, sometimes as a plant or an insect or any other life form.

Our body keeps changing, which is proof that we are not the body. We are that thing that resides within the body and leaves the body at the time of death. Knowing this, knowing that we are a soul, a Divine soul, and that our body is not the real me. We also know that the things associated with our body are not really mine.

If my body is not really mine, I'm going to have to leave this one day, then what to say of the things associated with my body? My possessions, my clothes, my car, my house, my wealth, my money, my fame, even our relations, my mother, my father, my friends, my children, they are also affiliated with our physical body. Therefore, when we leave our physical body, all of these relations come to an end.

Just like we leave our body and take a new body, we leave our relations and we form new relations in the next life. This means that no person in this world is truly ours. However, we do have someone who is truly ours, and that is Krishna, our beloved Krishna, our beloved Radha. Radha and Krishna are always with us. In fact, They are so close that They live within us, within our soul. So when we leave the body, They come with us. In every life we have lived They have been residing in our very soul. They're so close to us, and yet we forget about Them. They are the perfect companion because They can never be separate from us.

We have total complete unity with Them, but to experience that unity and to experience Their love, we have to accept that relationship with Them and we have to really feel and believe that Radha Krishna alone are mine. Right now we have our mind attached in so many other places. But if we could ever truly feel that only Radha Krishna are mine, then we would experience Their love instantly.

Let's take ourselves to that time. Imagine the time that's coming for all of us when we have to leave our body. Be brave and take your mind to that moment. See yourself in that situation. The time has come. “I'm leaving everything, leaving my house, leaving my bank account, leaving my family, Leaving my body. Am I going alone?”

No. You're going with Radha Krishna. We have to remember that, that They truly are mine. Even when we have to leave our body, we don't have to leave Radha Krishna. They are our true relatives, our true mother and father, our true friends, and our true Divine beloved.

So knowing this, feel the presence of Radha Krishna within you and also next to you. They are always with you. Feel safe, protected, accepted, and cared for because Radha Krishna are the perfect Divine protectors, the perfect mother and father, and They can give you perfect love if you accept Them in your heart.

Keeping this feeling of ananyata in our mind, we can now do some chanting.

“My business is with Shyamasundar alone.

I beg for food, and rest without a care in the world, in His village of Nandagam.

I sing His names, glories and pastimes ceaselessly.

I have no respect for the Divine majesty of Vaikunth, Lord Vishnu's abode, and I roam freely only within the boundaries of Braj.

Intoxicated with the bliss of love, I wander in the groves of Braj, where all the forms of liberation serve as maidservants!

Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj proudly declares, "I have placed my faith completely in Shyamasundar and depending on Him alone, I sleep without the slightest care in the world."“

Live recorded kirtan during the Ram Navami 2025 celebration from Shree Raseshwari Radha Rani Temple of JKP Radha Madhav Dham, Austin, TX.
